Also released to the public at Unpacked 2012 was the Galaxy Note 2. A lot of people were expecting this to be released at IFA 2012 and Samsung didn’t disappoint.

I got some hands on time with this amazing device (you can see some of my videos on here for some of its software features).

As one of the Samsung Mobilers for the UK I was lucky enough to be invited along to IFA 2012 where I got to attend Samsung’s Unpacked event and also report on the IFA event itself.

Firstly I should explain that through my time with Samsung I have become quite interested in photography and cameras in general….currently I am using my first DSLR which is a Canon 1100D which is great for beginners. However after seeing what Samsung pulled out the bag I may have to invest in the new Galaxy Camera!

IMG_2686IMG_2692

Call me girly….but I totally love that orange colour!

Okay onto the real meaty details, this camera has a seriously impressive spec list….it is mainly aimed at those users that aren’t quite confident enough to use a dslr but still want to take professional looking photographs!

Specs in a nutshell:

  • 16.3 Megapixel
  • 21x optical zoom (we all know digital zoom is awful…so this is great!)
  • Optical Image Stabilisation
  • 4.77” LCD HD super clear touch display (308ppi)
  • ISO Auto, 100-3200
  • 4G and 3G access….so you can share photos on the go
  • 1.4Ghz quad core processor
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • 8Gb memory and room for an external memory card
  • Full HD 1080p video recording
  • HDMI output
  • GPS and GLONASS
  • Wifi and bluetooth
  • 1650mAh battery
  • Dimensions: 128.7x70.8x19.1mm
  • Weight 305g

So that's an impressive list right!?

Other than that the camera is a really nice bit of kit, it sports a number of “pro” modes that enable the user to create professional pictures really easily.

One such mode is waterfall trace, the following picture was taken on my dslr and as a beginner it took me ages to get the settings correct…I imagine with the Galaxy camera you could select this mode and then point and shoot and come out with a similar result

546736_495038163859615_1297250112_n

Finally as the camera shares the same processor as the one that is in the Galaxy S3 I managed to run a speed test to test it’s processing abilities….I used the Antutu benchmark app from the Google Play store:

A very similar result to the Galaxy Note II

Olympic Torch Relay Birmingham Recap

Ok so sorry this post is a little late, i’ve been MEGA busy this week!

So last weekend the Olympic Torch Relay came to Birmingham! This time, like Leeds, there was a concert held in one of Birminghams nicest green spaces …Cannon Hill Park.

This time there was a number of different acts on and from the very outset it seemed like Birminghams teenage girl population was out in force to see The Wanted, Loicke Essien and Morning Parade perform onstage….i even heard rumours that some of them had been queuing up since 6am!

20120630_13025220120630_13043520120630_142641

As usual the three major Olympic Sponsors were there to have a bit of fun with the public!

During the day I did some promoting for the Galaxy S3 but then I also spent a lot of time exploring the panorama feature that is found on the Galaxy s3 and Galaxy Note…myself and the other mob!lers created some really cool effects! What do you think? Smile

20120630_150854

We haven’t been cloned really!!! hehehe!!!

Finally in between taking silly pictures and dancing around Canon Hill Park, i managed to grab a Galaxy S3 owner in the wild and gave her a quick interview. If you watch carefully you might even pick up some hints on how to create pictures like the ‘clone’ ones above!

Anyway guys and girls, that was my last torch relay post….keep your eyes peeled in future for posts from the Olympic Games and also perhaps IFA in Berlin!

Olympic Torch Relay Leeds- Recap Part 2

So yesterday I got back from Leeds, where thanks to Samsung I was able to attend the Olympic Torch Celebration at Temple Newsam Park.

As covered in my previous blog post all of the major sponsors were out in force with different freebies and activities for the general public, however the main attraction was what was happening on the main stage!

My favourite bit of the day was the Samsung Galaxy Tour performance which was hosted by Twist&Pulse alongside the Samsung Street Team and an amazing performance from Diversity!

20120624_171601

Samsung had already handed out tons of the popular Bam Bam sticks (named as such because when hit together they make an almighty racket) and everyone in the crowd was using theirs along to the beat of the music! It was quite a sight to behold!!

The sun came out when Twist&Pulse jumped on stage, here’s a quick shot showing what they do best…DANCING!

When the Samsung Street team joined them on stage the crowd went wild! (FYI the phone in the bottom left is a Samsung Galaxy S2 Winking smile)

Finally Diversity took to the stage and performed a crazy awesome set, that was full of stuff i’ve never seen anyone do before…including becoming a human transformer and using their legs as a catapult to shoot tee shirts into the crowd! How mental! (See video below)

A final shot for him to remember the crowd by….taken on a Galaxy S3 obviously! Winking smile

Anyway as it was such an awesome day, I decided to take a video of the highlights for you guys! Enjoy!!

Olympic Torch Relay Leeds–Recap Part 1

Hi Everyone!

Today I returned from Leeds, where Samsung gave me the chance to attend the Olympic Torch Festival that was held in Temple Newsam Park which wasn’t far from the centre of the city!

Despite the forecast being a rainy one, the sun came out and a great day was had by everyone who attended. Here’s what I got up to on the day!

First off I visited the Samsung area, even though this event was lead by Coca Cola, Samsung still had an area set up where the general public could record messages for Team GB athletes! (If they did they got entered into a draw to win Olympic tickets) 20120624_160031Oh and maybe get a pair of the very popular BAM BAM sticks!

20120624_155742

There was also a stand set up for the general public to have their pictures taken with the Olympic Torch or they could have a caricature drawn by a professional artist on the Samsung Galaxy Note! This proved very popular and the queues were huge!

20120624_160103

20120624_160119

Usually at these events there is a Samsung Pin Store set up so that people can have a look at Samsung’s latest hero products; the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note, but unfortunately because of the inclement weather lately the ground was too muddy and the pin wasn’t set up, so instead promoter staff and Samsung Mob!lers took to the queues to mingle with the people and educate them about these fantastic devices, and maybe hand out a few freebies too!

20120624_16004320120624_160920

I myself got to speak to a lady in the queue and so asked her a few questions of my own and used my Galaxy Note to write down what she said:

“Really enjoying the event”

“Loves the Galaxy family of devices, especially the Ace, but after seeing the S3 I might have to buy one of those instead”

“Definitely going to record a message of support for our athletes, need to support Team GB!!”

After checking out Samsung’s area myself and some of the Mob!lers went to check out the rest of the event! Our next stop was Lloyds TSB who are also one of the primary sponsors of the Olympic Games along with Samsung and Coca Cola, at their stand they were giving people the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Olympic Torch. Not only that but they were handing out lanyards, which had a detachable section at the bottom. This is where you filled your details in and then posted your ticket into the hot air balloon that they had set up. However there was a twist, the basket of the hot air balloon was sectioned into four, each one representing a local charity, depending on which section had most tickets inside then Lloyds would donate around £4000-£5000 to them. Oh and also a “winning” ticket would be drawn from the basket and that person would win four tickets to the Olympic Games! Neat huh? Smile

After that it was hard to not notice the presence of Coca Cola….EVERYWHERE, so I set off to see what they were doing at this event. It wasn’t long until I noticed a few strange people dressed in red with pretend moustaches and flags, dancing through the crowd and doing strange things….these were the Coca Cola men.

20120624_161351

Here they were running through the crowd and waving their flags at people, a little odd but it certainly got people excited!

20120624_161143

It was also really easy to notice that the stage where the acts were performing was totally covered in Coca Cola colours too, they really went to town on this event!

Here’s Mob!lers Christine and Kin-Hing on their Galaxy Notes!

20120624_161336As we walked further around the site (and what a big site it was!) we noticed a crowd gathering at the Coca Cola van! This is where they were handing out drum-type freebies and free Coca Cola in limited edition metal bottles! (I myself went for Coke Zero and I think I’m going to put some flowers in it!)

20120624_161756

We managed to collect both of the limited edition bottles and here they are:

20120624_164331

Each bottle carries a mini flame, so it’s kind of like you’re carrying a mini Olympic flame in your hand!

20120624_164253

Christine and myself decided to pose with all the stuff we got from the different sponsors, clearly loving my Galaxy Note and my Olympic uniform though! Winking smile

That wasn’t the end though! We decided to do a bit more exploring before the main festival and our favourite bit of the concert kicked off (the Samsung Galaxy Tour…obviously Winking smile ) ….at which point I found myself at the centre of an imaginary Basketball game with some more Coca Cola people!

It was entirely random, but oh so fun! Check out the video below!

Random Coca Cola Moment of Happiness!

See Part 2 for my recap on the Olympic Concert! ….well the Samsung Galaxy Tour bit mostly Winking smile

Olympic Torch Relay Edinburgh-Recap!

So a couple of days a go I got home from the beautiful city of Edinburgh!

First off after meeting Scott on the train up, we made our way to the Rose street brewery for a spot of food! Which I have to say was simply lovely.

The following day was spent wondering around Edinburgh and working on a top secret Mobilers collaborative video, that I daresay will be completed after the next olympic torch relay event in Leeds! Winking smile

After working on our video with the latest Samsung device (the SGS3) we made our way to the Royal Mile, where I spent my time working inside the Samsung Pin helping to promote the SGS3 and the Galaxy Note! It was great fun, however I did manage to escape for a short while and catch some of the hype and buzz of the torch coming past. Not only that but I was able to meet some Olympic torchbearers! The Canadian Mob!lers! Check out my photos below!

See you in Leeds! 23rd-25th June! Winking smile

Chat On REVIEW

Ok guys and gals….who likes to talk…well text? Have you heard of those messenger services like BBM and WhatsApp? well Samsung have got their own and it has recently been updated! So I thought I would share the ‘Chat On’ love and bring you my latest thoughts regarding this new service!

First off it is cross platform, this sweet app doesn’t only work on Android or Samsung devices, but it’s available for iOS and Blackberry too!

It works via wifi or 3G and therefore doesn’t use up any of your text message allowance! BONUS!

IMG_0700

In this review I will be using it on my trusty Samsung Galaxy Note! ….AWESOME DEVICE!

So here in the picture to the left is the Google play market page for the app, I always say if you want to find out about an app before installing, check out the reviews people leave! Chat on currently has 4 out of 5 stars awarded to it by it’s users!

IMG_0701

Once you’re all set up (by entering your phone number and such …just for verification purposes) you’re ready to go!

If there are contacts that are already using Chat on in your phone, then they will appear immediately and you can start chatting up a storm together!

IMG_0703

There are a number of emoticons that you can add to your chats to make them more exciting and not only that but you can even send a whole range of multimedia objects! (see picture below)

You can use this feature to share media quickly with large groups of people all at the same time, and everything gets stored in your personal Trunk!

IMG_0704

Finally my favourite feature is that you can send animated messages, which I must say works great with the S-pen and the Galaxy Note! Here’s a video of it in action:

If you want to join the fun then download the latest version of Chat on here at :https://web.samsungchaton.com/

Galaxy S3 First hands on–Liverpool Episode!

Hi all
I promised you all a video and here it is!
While i was in Liverpool last week for the Olympic Torch Relay, I did get to spend a little quality time with Samsung’s latest device, the fantastic GALAXY S3.
This is a phone jam packed full of features, most of which I couldn’t fit into the limited time I got with it on video, however as I am following the olympic torch I will be investigating and videoing the different features this amazing handset has to offer.
In this episode I will quickly be looking at the camera (8MP rear, 1.9MP frontal), how speedy it is (due to that whopping 1.4Ghz quad core processor) and a really coooooool feature known as pop up play!
Next episode will be live after I get back from Edinburgh, let me know what you want me to cover Open-mouthed smile

Olympic Torch Relay Liverpool–RECAP

So I just thought I would update you on my latest travels! To the lovely city of Liverpool!

After spending an day travelling and eating the best Pizza-Calzone hybrid known to man myself and the other mob!lers spent some time exploring Liverpool city, check out the album below, can you spot any sights that you know?

On the day the Torch came to Liverpool I spent the day along with the other Mob!lers at the Samsung Pin Store, myself and Andrew were assigned to the Galaxy Note Studio, this is where you could get  caricature drawn by a professional artist on the Galaxy Note or a picture taken with the Torch itself. Andrew and I entertained the people standing in the queue by demoing Samsung's latest hero product, the Galaxy S3. It has some amazing features such as S Beam, S voice and ‘Pop up Play’. The crowd loved it and all reactions to the phone were positive…I also provided a few demos on the Galaxy Note, people were blown away by the formula and shape recognition productivity features.

We kept everyone up to date on twitter via the hashtag #mobilersgalaxys3 , we’ll be using this at the other dates too!

I also managed to get a few videos of the Galaxy S3 in action, I’ll be uploading them soon, keep an eye out!

Finally, I made some awesome new friends, they all had Samsung devices!!!!! Open-mouthed smile

Next Olympic date is Edinburgh! 12th-14th June, see you there!!!
